Canvas New Feature Release, April 16th

Instructure will perform its monthly release of new features to Canvas on Saturday, April 16th, 2022. This is a part of the regular process by which Canvas provides new features to all of its users on the third Saturday of every month, without interrupting access to the system. More information about how Canvas releases work can be found here. This month, we have an exciting change to our course settings, gradebook, and fun feature addition to our submission comments!

Adjust Your Assignment’s Default Due Time

The Assignment Default Due time can now be modified in your course settings. This change allows instructors to adjust the assignment’s default due time to fit the course’s needs. This is handy for all of those instructors who don’t want all of their assignments set at 11:59 PM automatically.

Apply Scores to Multiple Ungraded Assignments at Once

This Apply Score to Ungraded Assignments feature allows scores to be applied to multiple ungraded submissions at once. This change allows instructors to apply scores to ungraded submissions en masse from an assignment group or the Total column menus in the Gradebook.

No more having to manually place zeroes at the end of the semester!

Emojis in Submission Comments :)

WANT TO TRY THIS FEATURE IN YOUR COURSE? NAVIGATE TO YOUR SETTINGS AND THEN TO FEATURE OPTIONS TO ENABLE YOUR EMOJIS IN THE SUBMISSION COMMENTS.

When adding submission comments, instructors and students can now add emojis using the Emoji Picker. This change allows instructors and students to convey messages through the use of emojis as visual indicators in addition to written comments.
