The FSCJ AI Advisory Council

At the Intersection of Innovation and Integrity:
Integrating AI for Enhanced Educational and Operational Excellence at FSCJ

Purpose:

To engage a broadly representative advisory council and related work groups in discussing, designing, and delivering an innovative and ethical framework for integrating generative artificial intelligence in the student learning experience and college operations

Key Areas of Focus:      

  • Policies and Procedures: Develop AI-inclusive policies that govern usage, ethics, and privacy.

  • Cybersecurity: Implement robust AI-driven security protocols to safeguard data and operations.

  • Professional Development: Provide faculty and staff with professional development opportunities that enable them to use AI tools effectively

  • Curriculum Development: Explore the integration of AI into existing courses and create new AI-focused programs.

  • Workforce Education: Offer AI-related corporate training to meet evolving industry demands.

  • Funding Opportunities: Explore grants and partnerships for AI initiatives.

Deliverables:    

  • Plan and coordinate the Presidential Town Hall on AI.

  • Facilitate monthly meetings of the AI Advisory Council between January and May 2024.

  • Facilitate the Essential Conversation Series on AI.

  • Develop and implement AI security protocols to protect the College’s data and operations.

  • Support the Faculty Senate’s development of an AI and academic integrity statement.

  • Develop an AI and institutional integrity statement.

  • Incorporate the AI academic and institutional integrity statements in the 2024-2025 college catalog, faculty handbook, and student handbook.

  • Create an instructor’s guide and an online toolkit for teaching and learning with AI.

  • Create a web page with AI resources and guidelines for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Continue to develop and deliver AI professional development for faculty and staff.

  • Visit shared governance groups (e.g., Faculty Senate, Student Government Association, Career Employees’ Council, Deans’ Council, etc.) to facilitate a presentation and discussion about Integrating AI at FSCJ.

  • Facilitate conversations with the Faculty Senate and the Liberal Arts and Sciences Discipline Councils about the integration of AI literacy and ethics in the general education curriculum.

  • Create an AI in Academics and the Workplace Certificate/Digital Badge for students.

  • Evaluate various AI tools and recommend one tool for enterprise-level procurement and adoption.
