Tips for the Start of Fall Term

As Canvas experts, we have a way of knowing the answers to the questions you may have this term before you know you’ll need them. So, to help you prepare, we’ve created a list of our Canvas tips, dates, and processes that are most commonly asked as we embark on a new term.

Canvas Dates and Processes

  • Course shells are created 90 days prior to the course start date

  • Students are added to courses 14 days before the course start date

  • Students have access to their courses only after they are published & its start date has passed

  • Students lose access to their course on the last day of the term by default

  • Instructors can change the course start date to allow early access

  • Instructors can also change the course end date to extend access for ALL students

  • To extend course access for just one student, submit a request for an Incomplete resolution

  • Data and changes in myFSCJ are pushed to Canvas every 8-9 hours

Tips from the Canvas PROS!

  • Use Canvas for every course – even if only for the Grades & Syllabus

As always, if you need more details or have additional questions throughout the term, please submit a ticket on our Technical Service Desk via help.fscj.edu, contact Canvas Support via the Help icon in Canvas, or email us at EdTech@fscj.edu.

Have a great term!
