FLUID: A New myFSCJ User Experience

Update myFSCJ with the new interface

Status: Complete

Audience: All College employees as well as students

Timeline Details: Live to all users on May 10, 2021.

Support: When the myFSCJ Fluid interface goes live on May 10, you will need to quickly become familiar with the new look and navigation flow of the screens so you can continue to complete the tasks you are used to doing within the employee portal.

The instructions for completing the most common tasks in myFSCJ are listed within the FSCJ Knowledge Base, but as always, if you need assistance while working in the portal, you can reach out to our Technical Service Desk via help.fscj.edu.

About the Project:

As we prepare to update myFSCJ with the new interface, please be aware that the myFSCJ portal will be unavailable this weekend, from Friday, May 7 at 6 p.m. until very early Monday morning. This maintenance will not impact the performance or availability of College systems such as email (outlook.office365.com) or Canvas (canvas.fscj.edu).

Prior to the downtime beginning tonight at 6 p.m., you may consider doing the following items to be prepared for the transition:

  • If possible, publish your Canvas course early for those students who may attempt to access the course over the weekend, even if it just contains a homepage, welcome message or link to the syllabus.

  • Take note of or print your students’ email addresses within the Photo Roster in myFSCJ. You can do this by going to the photo roster, scrolling to the right and clicking “Print Photo Roster.”

  • If your course is published, you can also message students from Canvas, however, student FSCJ email addresses are not visible from Canvas.

Tips & Common Questions

  • Your current security access and roles will transition over. No additional steps or changes are needed.

  • Manager Approvals will now be indicated by the Notifications flag and a numbered notification on the Approvals tile (no more Worklists).

  • You may want to clear your cache and allow pop-ups before exploring on Monday. These are good practices in general but can prevent unnecessary frustrations as we begin working in the new Fluid interface.
