Canvas Update! Rich Content Editor Multiple File Upload and SpeedGrader Locations

Greetings, FSCJ Community! We have two small Canvas updates to share. The first update involves the Rich Content Editor. Beginning May 20, users can paste or drag-and-drop multiple files into the Rich Content Editor. The Rich Content Editor is the area where you create, update, and modify content. This includes announcements, pages, assignment instructions, and much more! It is the area where instructors distribute most of their content to students, so needless to say it is a very important part of Canvas! Luckily, Canvas has made it just a little easier with the ability to paste multiple files. It will look something like this:

The second update involves the SpeedGrader. Don’t worry, nothing with the functionality has changed. SpeedGrader quick links are now added to the Options menus for Assignments, Graded Discussions, Modules, and Quizzes. You now have even more areas where you can access the Speedgrader. This may save you an extra click (which, hey, those add up after a while. Every little bit helps!)

In Assignments, instructors can view the SpeedGrader quick link using the Options menu (the three vertical dots).

In Modules, instructors can view the SpeedGrader quick link for Assignments, Quizzes, and Graded Discussions using the Options Menu.

In the Assignment View page, instructors can view the SpeedGrader quick link using the Options Menu.

In the Assignment Edit page, instructors can view the SpeedGrader quick link using the Options Menu.

In the Quizzes page, instructors can view the SpeedGrader quick link using the Options Menu.

In short, if you see three vertical dots (aka the Options menu) in a place that has a graded assignment, there’s a good chance you will see the SpeedGrader link. We hope this makes navigating to the SpeedGrader just a little bit easier. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to EdTech@fscj.edu if you have questions or insights into these or any other Canvas tools.
