Understanding Storage Limits in Canvas
Now that we have been in Canvas for four years now at FSCJ, we are all becoming more comfortable teaching our courses and adding more content within them. As content is being added, however, do you know how much storage remains available in your Canvas course or your personal files? This post will explain what those quotas are and how to best manage your storage in Canvas.
The Best Storage Methods for PowerPoint Files
Now that you’ve added all of your course content to Canvas, you may realize that PowerPoint files can often use up a big portion of each Canvas course’s size limit of 500 MB. Depending on the kind of PowerPoint that is being used, there may be other storage options to consider, which don’t take reduce your storage quota and may even provide a better experience for your students.
Reducing Video Size for Canvas Studio
Although Canvas Studio has a file size limit of 10GB, you could encounter upload issues with smaller file sizes. Most upload problems are related to the time it takes to transfer the file from your computer to the Canvas Studio. If it takes too long, there can be disruptions and eventually, the upload will fail. On campus, internet connectivity is more consistent than a home connection.
