New Printers Offer More Flexible and Secure Printing Across FSCJ

FSCJ will soon be rolling out a new fleet of more than 80 Canon printers across all campuses and centers. Powered by UniFLOW, the new system offers employees a more convenient and secure way to print, copy and scan.

With the new printers, you are no longer tied to one location. You can send a document to your secure print queue from home, your office, a coffee shop or even a teacher station. Then, visit any UniFLOW-enabled printer at the College, scan your FSCJ ID card or enter your Print PIN, and release the document from your queue.

Your documents will not print until you authenticate at a printer and choose to release them. This helps protect confidential information, prevents pages from being left unattended and reduces unnecessary printing. The new system also gives you access to your secure print queue from any participating FSCJ printer, rather than limiting you to a specific device.

The new devices support copying and scanning as well. You can connect your Microsoft OneDrive account to print stored files or scan documents directly to OneDrive.

Before You Use a Printer for the First Time

Look for an email from UniFLOW (not FSCJ) containing your unique six-digit Print PIN. You will need this PIN to register your account the first time you use a new printer. If you cannot find the email, check your junk or spam folder.

You only need to register once. After registration, you can sign in at any participating printer by scanning your FSCJ ID card or entering your six-digit PIN.

How Printing Works

When you are ready to print, select FSCJ Canon UniFLOW from the list of available printers and submit your document as you normally would. The document will remain in your secure print queue until you visit a participating printer.

At the printer, scan your FSCJ ID card or enter your Print PIN. Open the secure print queue, select the document you want and release it for printing. Remember to collect your documents and log out before leaving the printer.

Print Queue and Account Security

Documents will remain in your secure print queue for up to 10 hours. If you do not release a document within that time, it will be removed from the queue and you will need to submit it again.

After you finish using a printer, your account may remain signed in for up to one minute before the printer logs you out automatically. During that time, someone who approaches the printer could access printer functions through your account or release documents remaining in your queue.

To protect your account and documents, always select Log Out before walking away from the printer. Do not rely on the automatic one-minute logout.
