About This Project
The College has seen the benefits of establishing its own police force that can respond faster to emergencies than local law enforcement. The IT Department is working diligently to ensure that the Police Department has the technology resources they need to operate while maintaining the strict security measures required by the FBI and FDLE.
Timeline
We are in the beginning phase of assessing the requirements that are mandated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) in relation to technology. These regulations extend to both physical and electronic access to the Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS).
There are varying levels of security training that are required of any College employee who has access to the CJIS system.
The College is currently determining where the Police Force will be housed. Once that is determined, IT can then provide FDLE with a topology design and install the FDLE circuit.
Develop software images and security policies for laptops.
Provide mobile hotspots for roving officers.
Support
IT is working closely with the College’s Security Department to ensure that implementation is within “Best Practice” methods.
