Canvas New Feature Release, October 15th

Instructure will perform its monthly release of new features to Canvas on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. This is a part of the regular process by which Canvas provides new features to all of its users on the third Saturday of every month, without interrupting access to the system. More information about how Canvas releases work can be found here. This month brings updates to BigBlueButton’s Setup menu, Canvas Submissions, and our SpeedGrader.

BigBlueButton Conference Updates

When using BigBlueButton, you can enable a waiting room in Conferences Settings. Additionally, in Conferences, you can add conferences to the calendar and update or sync attendees.

This update gives you the ability to manage when participants join the conference. Adding a conference to the calendar when creating a new conference with BigBlueButton allows users to invite attendees to the calendar event simultaneously. Additionally, the ability to sync attendees as they are added or removed allows users to quickly and easily update the attendees.

Schedule Page Publication

You can now delay pages for publication on a specific date and time, this works similarly to announcements. This update allows you to prepare and schedule pages in advance to automatically publish in a course.

In Modules and Pages, instructors can view when a page is scheduled to publish.

Multi-File Submissions Display as Single Submission for Third-Party Tools

When using third-party tools to upload assignments, multiple files submitted together will display as a single submission in Speedgrader. This update allows you to view submissions with multiple files together in Speedgrader.

Please note that multiple files submitted together display as a single submission in Speedgrader.
