Protect Your PII

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is valuable to cybercriminals.  Protect it to keep yourself, our college, and our community safe.

  • PII is any information that can be used to identify you, either alone or with other information.

    • Know what PII is: Understand what information is considered PII and why it needs to be protected.

    • Limit what you share: Only provide PII when necessary and ensure the request is legitimate.

    • Be cautious online: Don’t share PII in email, text messages, or social media.  Verify before you click.

    • Secure your devices: Use strong passwords, lock your devices, and keep software up to date.

    • Handle with care: Store and dispose of PII securely, both in print and digital.

    • Use secure connections: Avoid using public Wi-Fi for sensitive activities.

    • Verify requests: Confirm the identity of anyone asking for your PII, even if they seem to be from FSCJ.

    • Think before you post: Oversharing can expose your PII.  Be mindful of what you post and who can see it.
