Our Mission

The Information Technology department at Florida State College at Jacksonville strives to be a service-based, innovative, evolving, creative team. These ideals are expressed professionally and consistently through transparent communication and client-centered excellence in support of teaching and learning.

The IT Governance Structure

The CIO is a member of the College’s Business Services Team and has formed four committees in order to facilitate input and guidance regarding the needs of the College and provide better transparency in decision making.

 

IT Leadership

This group is made up of the leaders of the main IT divisions. Its purpose is to discuss the current and future projects in IT, work together on solutions, and ensure forward progress on initiatives.

IT Executive Committee

This committee includes members from the President’s Cabinet, IT Leadership, and the Faculty Senate Chair, and is chaired by the CIO. Its purpose is to discuss and set priorities for Collegewide IT initiatives.

 

Academic Technology Committee

This is a subcommittee of Faculty Senate designed to be a listening post to hear and discuss academic technology issues and needs for students and faculty. The committee is chaired by a Faculty Senate representative. The committee is made up of faculty members, the CIO, and various IT Leadership members.

ERP Steering Committee

This committee is made up of members of the various departments that rely on the college’s ERP system, PeopleSoft. Its purpose is to prioritize upgrades, integrations, development, and the status of ERP-related projects. This committee is chaired by the ERP Project Manager. The CIO attends as a member of the committee.

Governing Documents

The Chief Information Officer is the primary owner and author of the following
governing documents, located in the Technology Library:

  • IT Policies and Procedures: Details the Collegewide IT Policies and Procedures

  • Technology Equipment Requirements: Details the standards for IT hardware for various usages

  • Approved Technology: Details the software, hardware, and services IT has already vetted and can purchase without product comparison bid processes

  • Technology Services Requirements: Details the requirements and things to consider when purchasing hosted or cloud solutions or other IT services

  • Technology Construction Requirements: Details the requirements for how IT components of the construction are to be completed

  • Software Acquisition Requirements: Details the process of how software can be requested, how it is approved, and how it is paid for
